Scalp Detox'n

Updated: Mar 23, 2023

I love a good exfoliator. I have several for my face and body. Something about those little beads feels great on my skin. Why don't we treat our scalp the same way? Our scalp needs TLC as well. We eat right and work out so our bodies can look great and snatched. We detox our bodies when we start to feel sluggish, why don't we do the same for our scalps?

A scalp detox takes all the gunk out. All the product buildup, the sweat, oil and dandruff that can occur from going long periods of time with out shampooing. This can be from wearing braids, extensions, wigs, etc. Detoxing allows for a deep cleaning. It allows for the hair follicles to become unclog which,,wait for it.....promotes hair growth! Once the hair follicle is not clogged, the growing hair strand can grow out healthy and thick. If the follicle is clogged it will minimize growth. All that gunk impacted on the scalp is not good! So let's take it off.

Here are some of my favorite scalp scrubs that I use in the salon: All products are available on Amazon for purchase.

1) Oribe Serene Exfoliating Scrub; Made with blend of alpha hydroxy acid and fruit acid this gentle exfoliating scrub is so light and gentle. It works quickly to dissolve dirt, oil and dandruff. Check out my Instagram to see it in action..

2) TPJ by Taraji P Henson; Never Salty Exfoliating Sugar scrub. This exfoliating sugar scrub comes out as a scrub but then turns into a balm once applied and rubbed in. It feels great on the scalp as it has a nice tingle sensation. Paired with the conditioner it leaves the scalp extremely clean and your hair soft.

3)Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal and Coconut oil Mirco-exfoliating Shampoo; A must have for an irritated or itch scalp. The Charcoal draws out impurities on the scalp, while the coconut adds moisture.

4) Design Essentials Scalp and Skin Detoxifying Tonic; This tonic breaks down all the impurities on the scalp while soothing and stimulating hair follicles. Made with lemon, eucalyptus and witch hazel. It is wonderful to use while in a protective style like braids, weaves and wigs to keep your scalp moisturized.

5)Aveda Pramasna Purifying Scalp Cleanser; This cleanser is deeply penetrates into the scalp to purify the hair follicles and balance sebum levels, leaving the scalp and hair feeling refreshed.

If at home detox'n is not your thing, feel free to book an appointment to come in and get some scalp TLC! I'd love to see you.

Happy Beautiful hair!

Courtney
